5 year electrical test

Around every 5 years VIVID will arrange a electrical test to the property to ensure that we keep our customers and their properties safe

  • 5 Year Electrical Test is completed by our in-house electricians.
  • We carry these out to make sure the electrical installation is safe and safe for continued use.
  • We test the cables from the fuseboard to the sockets/switches to make sure they are safe and test/check the safety devices/trip switches- MCB’s/RCBO’s that protect the cables etc.
  • A typical electrical test will take up to 2.5 hours depending on size of property and number of circuits present.

  • Customers will need to provide clear access to all rooms and where the fuseboard is located.
  • Where possible we need clear access to all sockets, lights and switches including cookers/shower switches.
  • We will move light items of furniture for customers that are unable or require help.
  • The electricity will be switched off for part of the test and we recommend the freezer remains shut at this time as the insulation will keep food frozen for duration until power is restored.

  • If you need a copy of the certificate, you can find a copy of it on your 'Online Account' under 'Documents'
  • We may need to re-attend to complete any remedial works after the test. If we do, we'll be in touch to let you know
