Blown windows
- A window that has condensation on the inside and looks cloudy, unable to clean internally or externally
- A blown window happens when a gap appears between the panes of glass which allows moisture to get in that leads to misting of the glass
- The gap could come from damaged sealant or damage to one of the panes of glass itself
- If you're a renting customer, to report a blown window, please get in touch and our Customer Experience team will arrange a repair
- Shared owners and leaseholders, most of the time, this will be your responsibility, however leases can vary so please remember to check your lease
- We're now using a company, called Crystal Clear, that restores the blown window rather than replacing, this means we can attend quicker for a better service and reduce unnecessary glass waste
- Once the repair has been completed it takes about 6 weeks for it to fully clear, if this doesn’t happen then please get in touch so we can look into it
Every sealed unit is unique and it's difficult to predict how long the moisture will remain after the first visit as it can depend on:
- The size of the window
- How much moisture there was at the start
- Position of the window
- Weather conditions
We clean the internal glass surfaces and coat them with an anti-fog coating. We then reseal the spacer bar to prevent further moisture and fit our defogging vents to keep the window clear.
The Waste Regulations and Environmental Protection Act encourage keeping materials in use longer. This avoids the production of waste and reduces the impact on the environment.
If the window is an opener, please don't use it for 2 weeks. This will allow the sealer to cure and harden
Between April 2025- April 2026 we've achieved some amazing stats, such as:
- 26.5 tonnes of waste glass saved from landfill enough to cover Wimbledon Centre Court 11 times
- 29 tonnes of CO2 removed from VIVID’s footprint by avoiding the production of new replacement glass. The same amount that would be produced by a family sized vehicle traveling 87,000 miles
- The energy saved by avoiding replacement glass production would heat a 3 bed home with gas for 58 months
- Most repairs are done from the outside, so you don't need to be home, reducing any disruption
- If you live in a tall building, the work can still be done, but access will be needed from the inside of your home
- Most repairs are completed on the first visit, meaning fewer repeat visits
