Ground source heat pumps
Some of the benefits of having a ground source heat pump are:
- It has lower long-term running costs compared to gas
- It’s stable and reliable heating in all weather conditions
- It can provide both heating and hot water in your home
When we install a ground source heat pump we will:
- Complete any groundworks required to install underground pipes
- Install a new indoor heat pump unit and hot water tank
- Try to minimise the disruption during the 1–2-week installation
- Provide you with clear timelines and daily updates of the installation
- Install new heating controls
- Give you training on how to use
Ground source heat pumps produce about 3-4 units of heat for every unit of electricity used, resulting in approximately 70% lower CO2 emissions compared to traditional gas boilers. Over a typical lifespan of 20 years, a ground source heat pump can save around 16 tonnes of CO2.
Groundworks can take several days, depending on property size, but we’ll keep you informed throughout. We will also try to minimise disruption inside your home.
Space is needed for underground pipes (trenches or boreholes) and an indoor unit, but this is usually replacing a pre-existing boiler and hot water tank.
Ground source heat pumps are one of the most efficient heating systems, keeping costs low in the long run. We’ll help you understand tariff options and heating controls to help you manage your heating costs.
