Help & Support

You can find lots of information on our services below, as well as the different help and support that we can provide.

Disabled adaptations

If you or someone you live with has a disability or trouble moving around, we can help. We may be able to make some small - and larger – changes. These could include:

  • Handrails
  • Grab rails
  • Ramps
  • Moving plug sockets/switches
  • Shower seats
  • Lever taps (which are easier to turn on and off)
  • An accessible shower

  • Before we can start work, you may need a report from an occupational therapist telling us what needs to be done. For small things such as a grab rail, you're able to self refer by getting in contact with us and requesting the adaption.
  • If you don’t already have an occupational therapist, contact your local social services team
  • The occupational therapist may need to visit you at home to understand what you struggle with and what changes are needed
  • We’ll contact you to plan in the work once we hear from the social services team
  • Sometimes, the adaptions required to the home are too complex and there may be a more suitable home elsewhere for you – If we identify this, we’ll support you to register with your local council. Check out our adaption policy for more information
  • To discuss a disabled adaption or to send over any reports, please contact us

  • If the changes needed costs less than £1,500, we’ll do them for free.
  • If it costs more than £1,500, it will need to be funded by a Disabled Facilities Grant or paid by you.
  • These grants are ‘means tested’ (so how much support you get depends on how much money you have) and your local council will look at your income and savings before deciding how much you have to pay (if any).
  • We won’t do any work until we know the funding is covered.

  • Small changes (such as fitting handrails to staircases or lever style taps to sinks and baths) can be approved by us and will normally be completed within a few weeks.
  • If it’s a bigger job, it could take longer and your council will pay for it and arrange the work. They'll be able to tell you how long it'll take.

To install a wet-room, you’d either need to be eligible for a Disabled Facilities Grant or be able to have this installed at your own cost. If you wish to install this at your own cost, you’ll be required to submit a home improvement request.

If you’ve recently been approved for a Disabled Facilities Grant, you’ll need to contact your occupational therapist who assessed you for an update. This service is provided by your local council, so they’ll be able to update you on the status.

If you are unhappy with the work, you’ll need to discuss this with the local council. If there’s a quality issue, or something isn’t working, please check through your warranty documentation and talk with the provider.
