Wall insulation

Wall insulation is layer of insulating material, either filled into your wall cavity (the gap between inner and outer walls) or fixed to the outside of your home. It acts like a thermal blanket, keeping warmth inside.

Some of the benefits of having new wall insulation are:

  • There can be a reduction of up to 35% in heat loss
  • It can reduce the energy needed to heat the home
  • There will be warmer rooms in winter
  • There will be cooler rooms in summer
  • It's able to reduce condensation and damp
  • It can improve sound insulation

When we install new wall insulation we will:

  • Complete a full property assessment first
  • Install scaffolding where needed for external work
  • Try to minimise the disruption installation
  • Ensure that all areas are clean and tidied
  • Provide you with clear timelines and daily updates of the installation

We know some customers have had wall insulation before with mixed results. Here's how we're making sure it works this time:

  • A full technical survey will be completed before any work begins
  • Checking for and fixing any existing issues first (like damp or drainage problems)
  • Using  thee latest generation materials and techniques
  • Complete a proper assessment of your wall type and existing insulation
  • Make property checks to ensure other issues (like draughty windows) won't undermine the benefits

Wall insulation can reduce heat loss by up to 35%, typically save around 600kg to 1,000kg of CO₂ per year for a medium-sized home.

Cavity wall insulation can take 1-2 days to complete.
External wall insulation can take around  2-3 weeks, however this can depend on your property type.

No - when properly installed, wall insulation helps prevent damp when combined with adequate ventilation. We check for and fix any existing damp issues first and use moisture-resistant materials.

The finishes will match your existing walls, come in a choice of colours and textures, and you can look at examples before work starts.

We'll check existing insulation and remove or repair if it’s not performing well, using improved materials and techniques.
