Extra care and sheltered living services
We've put together some FAQs for our customers living in our extra care schemes to help understand some of the services that we offer in our schemes:
Learn how catering works at our extra care schemes, including which locations offer meals and how to order them, with options for payment and support if you don't want them.
We have catering arrangements in place at four of our extra care schemes:
- Abbey Court in Basingstoke
- Campbell Place in Fleet
- Surrey Court in Eastleigh
- Rowan Court in Chandlers Ford
Customers living at Abbey Court, Campbell Place and Rowan Court have a lunchtime meal provided seven days a week. The payment for these meals is collected through your rent account.
Customers living at Surrey Court have the choice to buy meals. Meals are ordered in advance and payments for meals are made directly to the catering provider.
- The onsite catering team have a menu selection sheet which tells you the choices for the following week
- You’ll need to return this to the team each week
- Speak to the catering team, your carer or Independent Living Officer if you need any help
- Please speak to the Independent Living Officer about the reasons why
- You pay for the meals as part of your service charge
- If there’s a medical reason why you can't eat the food then it may be possible to reduce the amount you have to pay
- The guest flat varies across schemes but in most you will have a bed, a bathroom, and some basic kitchen facilities. We’ll arrange the cleaning of the flat and will make the bed up with freshly laundered bedding. No refreshments are provided
- Guest flats are set up for two people - most will have 2 single beds
- You can stay for up to two weeks, and we can be flexible in extenuating circumstances. The cost to stay in the guest flat is between £10-£29 per night depending on the scheme
- To book, please contact us via the live chat
Pull cords are tested by our Independent Living Officer every three months in our extra care schemes and every six months in sheltered schemes. If you want to test your pull cord more often, you can do. When the call is answered you just need to let them know that there isn't an emergency and that you are testing the alarm.
Please report this us via phone or Live Chat and we’ll arrange for a contractor to come and fix it for you.
No. They’re there to help you in an emergency. If you damage the equipment or cords, you may be charged for it to be repaired.
You can invite family members to join you in the communal lounge within reason. You can't prevent other residents from entering the communal lounge. Please confirm with your independent living officer before making arrangements.
If furniture is broken, worn or dirty please report this to your independent living officer who can consider repair, replacement or cleaning options.
No. If personal items are left in the lounge they will be removed.
Some of our schemes have a hair salon. To find out when the hairdresser visits, see the notice on the salon door. For prices either view the displayed price sheet or ask the hair dresser. You can book an appointment directly with the hairdresser.
If you live in one of our Extra Care schemes, you can apply for an Accommodation for Residential Care (ARC) concessionary TV Licence. You can find out more here.
