Mediation
Mediation is a voluntary process that helps people work through differences with the support of an impartial third party – the mediator. The mediator’s role is to create a safe, calm, and respectful space where everyone can share their perspective and explore solutions.
- The mediator does not take sides or make judgments
- We offer shuttle mediation, meaning you do not have to meet face-to-face with your neighbour. Each person is spoken to separately to reduce stress and ensure comfort
Through mediation, you can:
- Reach common ground and improve relationships and communication
- Work towards solutions that feel fair and practical for everyone involved
- Express your views safely without fear of blame or judgment
- Reduce tension – the mediator acts as a go-between to make the process less stressful
- Feel reassured about confidentiality – everything discussed in mediation stays private
If you feel mediation could help, please get in touch with us and you'll be directed to our Neighbourhoods or Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Team. We’ll talk through the options with you and support you every step of the way.
