Running a business from home

 

  • We need to understand the nature of the business you would like to run from your home such as the type of business, how parking will be affected and if you've spoken to HMRC
  • We don't unreasonably refuse permission 
  • Your neighbourhood officer ​​​​will be able to support with permission and complete any checks needed
  • If there are any complaints about a customer running a business from their home, the neighbourhood officer will have a look into the situation
  • If you need to improve the home, such as adding electrical sockets or installing a shed, the home improvement process must be followed

  • Under the home improvement process we don't allow customers to make any structural changes, such as boarding/converting the loft
  • A garage may not be used to run a business from
  • Shared owners and Leaseholders will need to refer to their lease
