Guttering repairs
Gutters help carry rainwater away from your roof and safely away from your home. This helps prevent issues like damp, mould and damage to the building.
They’re usually fitted along the edge of your roof and guide water into downpipes, which then carry it down into drains. Gutters can be made from different materials, including plastic, metal or concrete.
If blocked, the signs you should look out for as follows:
- Water cascading over the edge
- Sagging or pulling away from the roof
- Plants or moss growing inside the gutter
- Water stains on exterior walls
What we’ll do (where we’re responsible)
- Clear blocked gutters
- Repair broken gutters and downpipes
What we won’t do
- Install additional gutters
- Add pigeon proofing or mesh guards
You can report a gutter repair for your home or communal in your online account, by going to 'Manage repairs'.
Alternatively, you can contact us and we can raise the repair with you.
If you're a shared owner or freeholder in a house, you'll need to check to your lease agreement to confirm who is responsible for the repair.
- Let us know exactly where the problem is (for example, front, back, left, or right side of your home)
- Clearly describe the repair needed so we know what to expect when we attend
- Add photos to your repair case after you’ve raised the repair online, you can do this under the 'Manage repairs' section of your online account
- If the gutter repair is causing damp and mould please let us know so we can look into this further with you
Before we attend, please make sure:
- We can safely access the area — for example, clear items from your back garden
- Any dog fouling has been cleaned up
- Ornaments or fragile items are moved away from the work area
- If you live in a block of flats, we may need to carry out an initial inspection and arrange a contractor due to the building height
- If replacement parts are needed, we may need to return once they’ve been ordered
- Trim back any branches hanging over your roof to reduce leaves falling into your gutters
- Keep the drain at the bottom of the downpipe clear so water can flow freely
